A 9-year old Ryanite and a child environmental activist Licypriya Kangujam was invited to speak at the 10th United Nations Economic & Social Council Youth Forum 2021. The virtual event was scheduled on 6th April from 9.00 -10.30 AM (New York Time) and 6.30pm (IST). The program was LIVE on the UN official website UN WebTV. On this coveted global platform, Licipriya spoke on the topic ‘Rethinking of Public Transport: Inclusive Urban Mobility for Female and Indigenous Youth’.

As a young climate activist, Licypriya is an inspiration for people around the world irrespective of gender or age. Licypriya speaking on urban mobility for female or development, in particular, created a positive impact and inspire the youth. The other young speakers at the event were from Africa, Latin & North America, the Asia-Pacific region, and Europe. Altogether, the event witnessed the valuable exchange of experiences and a fruitful conversation on best practices towards public transport in the urban environment.

Feeling proud of the Ryan International prodigy, Madam Grace Pinto, Managing Director Ryan International Group of Institutions shared, “We congratulate Licypriya as she has addressed leaders and policy makers at a prestigious global platform at United Nations ECOSOC. We commend her zeal and passion for environment and wish her all success for her future endeavours. As a true Ryanite, she has made all of us and the nation proud.”

Licypriya said, “I want to thank the ECOSOC Youth Forum for giving me an opportunity to speak on urban mobility and development on such a big platform. It’s an honor for me!

I’m grateful to all my teachers at Ryan International School and Madam Grace Pinto for their support throughout. My teachers have always encouraged my work and passion towards the environment.”

Licypriya has also been appointed as the Advisor of Child Rights International Network (CRIN) based in London, UK and she is the new ambassador of UNDP (United Nations Development Program) appointed by their Geneva Office for SDG Finance.
