The Mahatma Gandhi Labour Institute (MGLI) has started holding online interviews for admission to the Post Diploma in Industrial Safety (PDIS) and Post Diploma in Industrial Environmental Technology and Management (PDIETM).
Dr Suman Vaishnav, course coordinator (PDIS/PDIETM), MGLI said that more than 800 candidates have applied for admission to the two courses.
There are 153 seats for the PDIS course, and 62 seats for the PDIETM course. The first round of interviews for both courses have been completed, while the second round of interviews will be conducted on October 5, 6 and 7th. The interviews will be conducted by panels that will also comprise industry experts.
MGLI has been offering the PDIS course since 1984 in affiliation with Technical Examination Board, Gujarat. The one-year full-time course enables a candidate to acquire the knowledge required to mitigate industrial accidents. During the course, candidates are trained in overall safety management to prevent losses related to industrial hazards.
The PDIETM course focuses on providing the candidates theoretical and practical knowledge for success in the ever-changing environmental technology field. It combines natural and social sciences in an interdisciplinary manner, providing a foundation for students to demonstrate their ability to identify and resolve environmental and sustainability issues in a holistic way.
