To unleash creativity with a purpose, LPU School of Fashion Design’s students and faculty were provided with first ever and the most prestigious opportunity to carry out a live project at Rashtrapati Bhavan for 3 days and do a detailed survey and research work on all on the style and attire worn by the previous 17 Presidents of India and the President’s palace.

The prestigious activity was aimed to popularize the indigenous fabric ‘KHAADI’ and its importance for the nation. Students of LPU learnt the true significance of the natural fabric and how it’s timeless and the future of India’s fashion scenario.

LPU is amongst the top fashion design schools that nurtures the creativity in students so that they are able to explore various avenues in their professional journey. The students also got the chance to explore the president’s palace and various museums and galleries inside the premises. After the return, students would complete the design process to create a new range of garments made from Khaadi fabrics to leave a mark on the khaadi day.

They will also be creating ensembles based on the attire of Rashtrapati and the intricate details found at the historical libraries of the Bhavan.

Thrilled with the opportunity, Mr. Bhaskar Mitra, Head of School of Fashion, Lovely Professional University said, “It is the first time ever that any university has conducted such a research and we are honored to be a part of the style and attire journey of our honorable Presidents. Our students were delighted with the opportunity and studying the relevance of natural fabric at Rashtrapati Bhawan was truly overwhelming”.

Recently The School of Fashion Design at Lovely Professional University  participated in a three-day spectacular ‘Delhi Times Fashion Week’, the oldest and the most prestigious events in the fashion industry where top designers from India and abroad showcased their latest creations. Top designers like Rocky S, Sabyasachi, Ritu Kumar, Guarav Gupta and more are few of the top designers associated with this show.
