Indian Institute of Management Calcutta in partnership with Discovery Channel, India’s leading real-time entertainment channel, organized a mentorship session on entrepreneurship for their students on Saturday, 25th January 2020. Leading entrepreneurs and co-founders of Licious – India’s most disruptive startup in the meat and seafood space addressed the student community and shared their expertise in running a successful enterprise.

Speaking to the aspiring entrepreneurs in the audience, Vivek Gupta and Abhay Hanjura – Co‐founders of Licious said“The best advice we want to give budding entrepreneurs is that having an idea is just the beginning. The execution of that idea into a successful business happens only when you have your back-end processes in place. So work towards that goal.”

“We at IIM Calcutta always welcome initiatives for students to acquire knowledge that helps them to grow in their respective fields. The mentorship session created a platform for our student community to engage with experts in the industry. We are happy that the session was successful in inspiring next-generation entrepreneurs to take up the challenge of establishing their own start-ups. The idea was to bring together bright minds to share experiences that foster learning and provoke mutually beneficial conversations. We are glad that we could tie-up with The Discovery Channel to achieve this objective. ” said, Prof. Anju Seth, Director at IIM Calcutta.

Licious was featured in the first season of Discovery Channel’s ‘India Startup Stories’ which is a docuseries based on the journey of Indian startups who have made a massive impact on the Indian startup ecosystem. The series focuses on how start-ups are going to drive the future by changing the way we use and consume goods and services, interact with technology and deploy them to solve pressing problems.

The two-hour session began with the screening of the episode featuring the journey of the founders and the challenges and opportunities ahead of Licious. This was followed by a talk by the founders which led on to interactive Q&A between the students and the speakers. The discussion of topics related to funding, procurement, analytics, the technology proved to be both engaging and enlightening. The event added value to the budding entrepreneurial community at IIMC and motivated the audience to kickstart a plan of action towards achieving their start-up dreams.
