Heriot-Watt University will be hosting a thought-provoking Future Skills Conference at the UK pavilion at Expo 2020 on December 8, 2021. Echoing the theme of Expo 2020, Connecting Minds and Creating the Future, the conference will explore how the University’s world-leading research is shaping education, catalysing industries and framing jobs of tomorrow in response to the changing workplace – through sustainability, mobility and opportunity.
The daylong event includes engaging panel discussions that will be led by Lucy Everest, Global Chief Operating Officer and Dr. Gillian Murray, Deputy Principal (Enterprise and Business) at Heriot-Watt University.
It will feature renowned academic and industry education industry experts on highly relevant topics such as:
- The Importance of Education in the Middle East
- The Future of Education
- Jobs of the Future
- Future Skills and Lifelong Learning
- Campus of the Future
- Future Global Student Mobility
- Building Entrepreneurial Skills
Heriot-Watt University will also host a workshop jointly with the UK-UAE Business Council on the same day. Called Developing Talent: Future Role for Online Education, it will cover the future role of online education in response to the growing demand from students for flexible and inclusive education. The workshop will explore the provision of knowledge and effective support through online means, what the opportunities are to expand this in the UAE and the UK, and how online education can ensure a high-quality student experience and learning outcomes.
As the world strives to recover from the devastating impact of the global pandemic, the Future Skills Conference will contribute to, and drive forward, impactful solutions, discuss the role of innovation and how global challenges can be addressed through disruptive research.
The Future Skills Conference will take place at the UK Pavilion located in the Opportunity District at Expo 2020. It will begin at 10.30 am and close at 6 pm.
