Entrepreneurship Institute Development Institute of India is one of the winners of the AICTE Lilavati Awards 2020 on women empowerment. The premiere institute was adjudged 1st runner up for the sub-category of women entrepreneurship. A total 456 teams took part in contest initiated by AICTE.

Lilawati Awards is an innovative step by AICTE that is aimed at motivating girls to join higher education. This year’s Lilawati award’s theme was empowering woman and was spread across 6 sub themes: Women’s Health, Self-Defense, Sanitation and Hygiene, Literacy, Women Entrepreneurship, and Legal Awareness. After analyzing the initial entries, the top 10 entries under each sub-theme were invited for presentation and three winners in each category were then selected.

Speaking about the achievement, Dr. Sunil Shukla, Director General, EDII, said, “It is a proud moment for all of us at EDII. We have been working towards promoting entrepreneurship as a viable career option and bringing academic rigor in this field for more 35 years. It is heartening to see entrepreneurship taking center stage as a means to economic development and women empowerment. Through our several targeted courses and projects, we have training and mentoring women entrepreneurs in rural areas as well. Many our current students and start-up incubates are women who have demonstrated innovation and pragmatism in their respective enterprises.”

Through several training programs and focused course work, EDII has been training women to become entrepreneurs. In addition, the institute is promoting entrepreneur networking and adequate business skills to ensure their long-term survival and growth.
