Amid the school closures due to the rising cases of COVID-19, students are more focused on their health with extra time at their disposal. The trend has been revealed through a survey conducted by Brainly, the world’s largest online learning community for students, parents, and teachers on World Health Day.
Out of the 2217 respondents in India, Brainly found that 84.6% say they are now taking extra care of their health and hygiene, due to the outbreak of the pandemic. Furthermore, while at home, 64.3% of the students stated that they are trying a new health routine.
The results of the survey showed; to maintain a healthy routine and lifestyle, 40.8% declare emphasizing on taking care of their diet while 35.6% exercise daily. Understanding the importance of overall well-being, 90.5% of students believe that mental health is as important as physical health. Moreover, 75.1% of students pledge to maintain their health, hygiene and fitness in future, irrespective of the lockdown.
Speaking on the survey, Michał Borkowski, Co-founder, and CEO, Brainly, said, “With online learning, students have more time in their hands to indulge in other activities. The survey bespeaks a favorable picture of how students can actively engage in healthy practices from the time saved by not having to travel to educational institutes. It is commendable how they are readily adopting new exercise routines, healthy lifestyle and eating habits, utilizing their time at home during the lockdown.”
Since its launch in India, Brainly has proved its mettle as one of the country’s most effective online learning channels by registering a user-base of 20M+ and a Y-o-Y growth rate of over 100%. With a ‘community learning’ model that combines online education, social media, and machine learning, the platform facilitates an extensive network of peers, parents, teachers, and experts to empower students with a collaborative, flexible, and comprehensive learning experience.
