Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has emerged as the 4th best university in the country in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Ranking 2020 that has been released by the Government of India today. The University has also been ranked 7th among medical colleges in India.
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham was once again ranked the top best university in India behind other well-established and prestigious public institutions such as the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore; Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi; and Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. In 2019, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham was ranked the 8th best.
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and the Vellore Institute of Technology are the only two private engineering institutes to find a place in the Top 20 engineering institutes of India in NIRF Ranking 2020.
Amrita School of Medicine was ranked 7th best medical college in the county after All India Institute of Medical Sciences New Delhi, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh; Christian Medical College, Vellore; National Institute of Mental Health & Neuro Sciences, Bengaluru; Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow; and Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. It is ahead of several prestigious institutions in the NIRF Ranking 2020 like JIPMER Puducherry; Kasturba Medical College Manipal; and others.
