Two undergraduate students of Ahmedabad University Aditi Jain (1st year BBA Hons.) and Mana Shah (1st Year Integrated Life Sciences) lifted the Mahatma Gandhi Elocution Trophy 2021-22 at the competition organised by HL College of Commerce on 8 January, 2022. The topic for the debate this year was – India must revisit Gandhian thoughts for the country’s economic bounce back from Covid.

The Mahatma Gandhi Elocution Trophy was instituted in 1940, out of the savings generated by dropping Annual Day festivities in view of the political situation prevailing in the country at that time. The trophy was named after Mahatma Gandhi, who symbolised, in his person, India’s struggle to discover her identity.

Other universities whose students participated in the competition this year include St.Xavier’s College, Umiya College, Uma College Gandhinagar, and HL College of Commerce, among others.

The distinguished panel of judges this year had Ms. Vaishali Shah, Ms. Malti Mehta and Mr Dhaval Shah.
